Our mission is to encourage dancers to express themselves, ignite their imagination, and bring out their creativity through the art of dance. We will provide quality instruction to dancers of all ages and skill levels while promoting a positive, motivating, and friendly atmosphere.
Makaia Gatson, Owner/Instructor
Ms. Makaia is the Owner and Director of Graceful Soles Dance Studio, as well as an instructor. She has been dancing and performing since the age of seven. Her dance training includes ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and African. Her love for teaching dance, especially children, started over fourteen years ago. Her teaching experience includes working with children of all ages in a performing arts school, preschools, private dance studios, after school programs, recreation centers, summer camps, and churches. She also enjoys teaching adult dance classes. Her education includes a B.S. degree in Business Administration, and three summer intensives at Dance Masters of America Teacher Training Program in Buffalo, NY.
Jacqueline Walsh, Instructor
Jacqueline Walsh has
been involved in the performing arts for the majority of her life. She has been
studying drama since the age of ten and dance since the age of thirteen. Her
passion for the arts combined with her love for children led her to start an arts
mentoring program for girls and teens called Diamonds in the Rough. It soon
expanded to include boys and became Blessed Vessels Artistry. She was blessed
to have the privilege of sharing dance, drama, and serve as an artist
teacher/mentor to the youth for ten years. She has an AA in Fine Arts and is
currently pursuing her BA in dance with a Minor in drama. As she continues to
work with Blessed Vessels Artistry, she is grateful to be a team member of
Graceful Soles and looks forward to sharing her gifts with the children.
Jaylyn Thrower, Assistant Instructor
Jaylyn Thrower has been involved and passionate about performing arts for the majority of her life! She has studied a variety of dance genres including: ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, contemporary and lyrical. Jaylyn led her high school dance company as a team captain of the Lowery Dance Company her freshman year of high school where she’s choreographed, taught and showcased her own hip hop class and continued on with the Tallenettes drill team at Allen High School. She has had formal training and competed/performed at Hathaway Academy of Ballet with Kirt and Linda Hathaway, Monica (Micki) Saba (University of Texas Dallas), Dallas Black Dance Theatre, MA dance contests, Showcases, Dance Werx, church performances, Football halftime performances, Pep-rallies, Triple officer piece and recitals. Jaylyn is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Education and Dance as she strives to enhance her gift of dance and love for children. Given Jaylyn has found her niche, she’s excited to join the Graceful Soles team! Jaylyn says she is blessed and thankful to be teaching because it’s rewarding to influence and lead the upcoming generation of dancers and see them grow, or even peak!
